If you follow along on Instagram, you know I talk a lot about vision boards + especially moodboards. This post breaks down the difference in each, when they come in handy, and why you should have both.
Vision boards tend to be more about you, your big goals, what you want, where you want to go, and who you want to be. These serve as a great reminder of your why, they can be encouraging in tough times, and they can motivate you to work hard + grow.
Moodboards are all about your brand — which really means, they’re about your clients’ feelings, inpsirations, + solutions. They serve as a visual style map, a source of inspiration, and a guide for future projects.
When creating your vision board, you can go old school cut + paste style with scissors + magazines. Get fancy with washi tape on your wall or poster board. Or you can go the digital route, simply making one directly in Pinterest. I actually like to do both and I save a screenshot of my digital board as the background of my phone so that it’s always there as a little reminder!
Ideas for adding to your vision board: travel, relationship, new car, financial freedom, health/wellness.
To set the mood for your brand, source images online to create a custom board in Photoshop, Canva, or another app. Just be sure to keep your ideal client in mind + consider how your brand can appeal to them.
